Nigeria: What is the certification procedure of telecommunications equipment

nigeria

In the margins of the first meeting of African certification companies, held on last September 25 in Lagos, the Nigerian communications commission recently explained how to comply with the certification process of telecommunications equipment.

The certification of Telecommunications equipment is mandatory in Nigeria, according to engineer Chuma Nwaiwu, Head of the wireless network and technical standards unit of NCC during his address in Lagos. In addition, he came back to the significance of the paperwork to be submitted for approval as follows:

RED TECHNICAL FILES
SAMPLE: required for PCs, tablets, smartphones as well as IOT (Internet Of Things). However, NCC may only require sample for other devices if necessary.
FCC: Tests reports are not allowed for Type Approval
From now on, a new billing applies to family approval.

As a reminder, the deadline for processing a Type approval project is between 4 to 8 weeks depending on several factors. Approval Certification is required for any ICT (Information and Communications Technology) equipment to be connected to the public network.
