The technology that helps propagate the Internet signal
What is IEEE 802.11AD technology? What is its function? These are the many questions that users are wondering about. In this edition, we will provide details about this technology and its benefits. As a reminder, in our last monthly publication n° 70 of March 6, 2019, we discussed the 802. 11ax wifi which has been used a lot in recent years in administrations and for which our team has approved several devices.
The WI-FI 802.11ad, also called WiGig, is a WI-FI standard using the 60 GHz frequency band as features without the list being exhaustive, it broadcasts the signal up to 10 meters with a rate of up to 4.6 Gbit/s on a single carrier. At times, the speed can reach 8 Gbit/s. Thus, due to its nomenclature, this WI-FI has several advantages, including the generation of a transmit/receive wave beam, which fosters high frequencies in the 60 GHz band. Moreover, given the capacity of the WiGig, it complements the usual Wi-Fi, mainly because of applications that use high bandwidth.
Today, although this technology is not known to everyone, it is already used in some African countries where we have helped several customers obtain the type approval of such devices, including BENIN, EGYPT and the CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC. It should be noted that engineers with expertise in technology are still working hard to develop technologies that will make people’s daily lives easier. So, for companies that are not yet familiar with IEEE 802. 11AD technology, we encourage you to discover how it is like.
